Rock On…P.O.D

I have decided to kick the weekend off early with the Rock On Segment.    P.O.D is definitely one of the bands that fire me up on a lethargic morning (and CCC is not a morning person without three cups of coffee on a campaign morning or two cups of coffee on a regular morning).  Their single “Alive” is a great song with strong heavy metal tones and a good message.   Without further adieu, “Alive” by P.O.D.

The GOP Needs to Wake Up and Pay Attention!

Check out this great post from Doug at Below The Beltway.   It is a great post and the YouTube is phenomenal.

Additionally, U.S. Senator Tom Coburn from Oklahoma wrote an interesting commentary in The Wall Street Journal on May 27th about the current decline of the Republican Party.  If the Republicans can wake up and return to the principles of limited government and fiscal responsibility, then maybe we will start winning again.

Here is a great quote from his article:  “Many Republicans are waiting for a consultant or party elder to come down from the mountain and, in Moses-like fashion, deliver an agenda and talking points on stone tablets. But the burning bush, so to speak, is delivering a blindingly simple message: Behave like Republicans.”

It doesn’t take a genius to figure out what our party needs to do in the future to emerge victorious!

Live Blogging at the RPV Convention

I will be live blogging on Saturday, May 31st from the Republican Party of Virginia Convention.  It should be a lot of excitement, so stop by Bloggers Row and say “Hi” to both myself and 200 Grande.

Jeffersoniad Hospitality Suite–Friday night

Well, it’s RPV Convention time!  Stop by the Jeffersoniad Hospitality Suite Friday night in Room B19 of the Greater Richmond Convention Center.  This suite is sponsored by House Speaker Bill Howell and Rhumb Line.

The suite will be jumping from 9 p.m.-1 a.m.  So, stop by and meet some of your favorite bloggers (unfortunately, I will not be there).   There will be lots of fun, coffee and desserts.

Hurricane Preparedness Tax Holiday

Did you know that this week is Hurricane Preparedness Tax Holiday Week?   That’s right, from May 25-31 throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia, you can shop tax free for all of the Hurricane supplies (water, batteries, generators) to prepare for the busy season (if like last season, it will be uneventful–you can never be sure!).  This tax holiday is modeled after the famous Back-to-School Tax Holiday (my favorite holiday–clothes and technology tax free, yeah!!–should be extended to an all year ’round).

Senate Bill 1167 was patroned by Senator Ken Stolle (R-Virginia Beach) and passed overwhelmingly by the General Assembly.  Delegate Tim Hugo (R-Clifton) remarked, “With the numerous natural disasters we have seen around the country and world, the tax holiday is an excellent opportunity for Virginians to prepare for emergencies while saving money.”

It is true, you can never be too prepared for natural disasters.

Crystal Clear Disco Ball: RPV Convention

Alright, it is time for the Crystal Clear Disco Ball to return for predictions about the upcoming Republican Party of Virginia State Convention.

RPV CHAIRMAN-This is going to be a close race.  Jeff Frederick will win election, because the party is in need of someone who will infuse the party with new ideas that will restore us back to the party’s founding core principles and energize the fundraising/grassroots base.  While John Hager was Chairman, he witnessed the Democrats retaking control of the State Senate.  During his campaign for RPV Chairman, there has not been any suggestions on how to revive the Party.   Hager keeps mentioning how Frederick’s attacks have been brutal, but I would rather have someone who has the balls to be confrontational.

U.S. SENATE-This is going to be a toss-up.  It is a possibility that Bob Marshall could win this thing, because Gilmore has alienated many on the right with his views on the life issue.  Gilmore has indicated that he sees nothing wrong with someone having an abortion in the first term of pregnancy.  This would be a great thing if he loses to teach a lesson about arrogance (i.e. declaring that you have enough supporters before the convention takes place).

The RPV Convention will be interesting, and hopefully, I will get a chance to meet up with fellow bloggers at this event.

New Contributor To The Crystal Clear Conservative Show!

Since it is good to have two points of view represented in a forum, I would like to extend my warmest welcome to a new contributor, who brings a New York State of Mind to Virginia politics.  Enter 200 Grande, who is just the perfect remedy to the Crystal Clear Conservative blog show!   200 Grande wrote his first post about the Hager Ostrich mailer sent out by our man for RPV Chairman, Jeff Frederick.

So, give a shout out to 200 Grande!

Rock On…Smashing Pumpkins

This weekend’s edition of Rock On is brought to you by Smashing Pumpkins.  Their song “Bullet With Butterfly Wings” is one of my favorites, and it fires me up during countless all night writing sessions.  Enjoy!
