The New York Yankees will miss the postseason for the first time since starting their run in 1995. Mike Mussina pitched five shutout innings to earn his 19th win, Jason Giambi homered and the Yankees beat the Toronto Blue Jays 3-1 on Tuesday night.
I am now in a state of Yankee Depression, and since I will not cheer on a National League team, I guess I will be cheering for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.
Personally, I’m going to root for Joe Torre and the Dodgers simply because I know that the further they go in the playoffs, the more that idiot Hank Steinbrenner will get annoyed.
And, if they make it to the WS, there’s no way I can’t hope that the Chicago Cubs go all the way, finally.
Doug,
You make a valid point about cheering on the Dodgers. It would be great for Joe Torre to get some revenge.
Especially after Little Stein said this:
A better team ?
Well we won’t ever know that Hank, and it isn’t really Joe Torre’s fault that outside of Arizona the rest of the NL West pretty much stinks.
But, the Dodgers are a team that’s going to the playoffs for the first time since 2006 and the guy Hank fired is taking them there.
That’s called poetic justice in my book
(No, I really don’t like the Steinbrenner brothers and what they are doing to the Yankees)
