Today, the U.S. House voted again on the Bailout Bill. This time, they voted to pass this bill that not only violates liberty and the free market economy, but gives kickbacks to their friends on Wall Street.
As you have read here, I am against the bailout bill. I believe it is the role of the free markets to help revive the economy. It is against every tenet of personal responsibility and accountability that we, as Americans stand for. It seems that Congress does not believe in the hard work of Americans, who put in endless hours to make ends meet. They would rather bail out their friends on Wall Street without considering that the American people will be footing this $700 Billion bill. Talk about an infringement of your liberties, Ladies and Gentlemen.
I called my Congressman, Tom Davis today to voice my disapproval of this bill. The person who answered listened to my concerns and was very friendly, so I express my gratitude to him. I know that I will receive a canned response letter from Tom Davis, saying that he was only doing this due to the wishes of his constituency. What, the wishes of your friends at Fannie Mae, Tom? I trusted Tom Davis, when I voted for his re-election in 2006, to do what is right and just for the 11th District and the Commonwealth of Virginia. However, I am extremely disappointed in his vote today.
Locally, here is who voted for the Bailout:
Rep. Eric Cantor
Rep. Tom Davis*
Rep. Frank Wolf
Rep. Wayne Gilchrest (MD)*
*Retiring at the end of Congress
As for those who voted for the Bailout, I encourage everyone to call 202-224-3121 and voice your disapproval for these Representatives’ betrayal of the American taxpayers. It is a travesty that these elected officials pander to special interests, not the American people.
Voting Against the Bailout (Thank you for listening to your Constituents and looking out for the interests of America):
Rep. Roscoe Bartlett (MD)
Rep. Thelma Drake
Rep. Randy Forbes
Rep. Bobby Scott
Rep. Virgil Goode
Rep. Bob Goodlatte
Rep. Rob Wittman
