Mark Sanford for President 2012

Lately, South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford has been making rounds in the media about which direction the Republican Party needs to go for growth and principles sake.  After reading his recent commentary in The Politico, I believe he is the right candidate for the future of our party.   Looking ahead, I believe he would be a great President, who will protect our free markets, fight and advocate for Constitutional adherence, and protect strong family values.

Now, I would like to note that my fellow co-bloggers here at Crystal Clear Conservative do not reflect my views.   This is a endorsement that could change, because we still have three more years left to really find out if Sanford will run.  However, I will say Sanford’s points should not be ignored by party leadership.   We need to return back to conservative principles or the GOP will not survive or prosper.

Dangerous Black Friday!

Gee, what has gotten into people?  In the wake of Black Friday, madness has caused 1 death (WalMart employee in Long Island) and two men shooting at each other at a Toys R’ Us.

Has commercialism kidnapped the spirit of Christmas?  It is a shame that the loss of life due to people fighting over bargains has taken away from the true meaning of Christmas.  Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ.  It is time to share and give back to others.  It is the spirit of love and joy, not madness.

It is sad to think we are more focused on materialism, rather than the spirit of Christmas.  As we head into the days before Christmas, let us think of what truly matters.

Happy Thanksgiving!

This Thanksgiving marks my first as a blogger, but it also represents so much more.  You see, 2008 has marked so many changes for me.  These changes have helped me to mature more in my faith, but it also has made me realize that there are many around me who are going through some of the similar challenges.  I am thankful for these challenges, as much as I am thankful for the family and friends, who have blessed me with so much love and support.

However, as we sit at the table and give thanks for family, friends, good health, shelter, etc, we should also give thanks for the freedoms and liberties that we are granted as Americans.  We live in a country, where we have the freedoms to worship God, we have the freedoms to speak, etc.

I would like to share this video clip that my friend sent to me via e-mail this morning.  This YouTube Clip is from an interview that Charles Kuralt did in 1978 that featured a family in Mississippi that got through tough times by relying on faith, etc.  Kuralt said, “Whenever I think anything in America is impossible, I will think of them.”


Spring Training is Right Around the Corner

I am frankly more in the baseball mood today.  Yes, I know that football has surrounded us with full glory, but as you know, I am a baseball partial.  Today, I was on my favorite baseball blog, The LoHud Yankees Blog, and they had the details of Yankees Spring Training.   For this, I had to share the details of my favorite pinstripe warriors’ spring training schedule.

This year will mark some epic changes with the opening of the New Yankee Stadium and with some shakeups in the pitching staff (Mussina is gone, and rumor is that Pettitte’s contract has yet to be renewed).  I am looking forward to the excitement, and it is my goal to save money for my first ever Fantasy Baseball Camp in Florida.

Here is the details about the Yankees Spring Training from the LoHud Yankees Blog.

The 26-time World Champion New York Yankees announced today they will open their 2009 Major League spring training schedule on Wednesday, February 25 at 1:05 p.m. vs. the Toronto Blue Jays at Knology Park in Dunedin, Fla. The Yankees’ first home spring training game is scheduled for Thursday, February 26 at 1:15 p.m. vs. the Tampa Bay Rays. This season marks the earliest start to the Yankees’ spring training game schedule in at least 60 years.

In addition, the Yankees announced that ticket prices for 2009 spring training games at George M. Steinbrenner Field will remain the same as last season.

The Yankees will play a 33-game Grapefruit League schedule as well as two home exhibition games against World Baseball Classic teams at George M. Steinbrenner Field. On Tuesday, March 3 at 1:15 p.m., the Yankees will host Team USA, and will welcome Team Canada on Thursday, March 5 at 1:15 p.m.

Included in the Yankees’ 16 total home exhibition games against Major League competition are six night contests (7:15 p.m. start time) on Friday, March 6 vs. Detroit; Tuesday, March 10 vs. Cincinnati; Tuesday, March 17 vs. Pittsburgh; Thursday, March 19 vs. Toronto; Tuesday, March 24 vs. Boston and Friday, March 27 vs. Cincinnati.

Pitchers and catchers are scheduled to report on Friday, February 13, with their first workout slated for Saturday, February 14. The Yankees’ first full-squad workout is scheduled for Wednesday, February 18. The World Baseball Classic will be played from March 5 through March 23.

This will be the Yankees’ 14th spring training at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Fla. The complex was renamed for the Yankees’ Chairman on March 27, 2008, following two unanimous resolutions supporting the change issued by the Hillsborough County Commission and the Tampa City Council.

Season tickets for the Yankees’ complete 2009 home exhibition schedule will go on sale beginning the second week of December. Individual-game spring tickets will go on sale in January. For information, fans should call (81… or visit http://www.steinbrennerfield.com.

Thomas Sowell’s Perspectives on the Economy

Herbert Hoover did what Barack Obama is proposing to do. Hoover raised taxes on high-income people and put restrictions on international trade, in order to try to save American jobs. It didn’t work then and it is not likely to work now.

Thomas Sowell makes some intriguing points throughout his article. It would be no surprise if Obama’s economic plans lead us into an even greater depression.
