Mark Sanford's Stimulus Smackdown

Mark Sanford gave an eloquent explanation of why he refused South Carolina’s portion of the Stimulus payment in Friday’s edition of Wall Street Journal. Sanford is the exact prescription that the Republican Party needs as a leader and someone who will be a strong contender in 2012.

Look, I feel that anyone who accepts the full stimulus payment is making a huge mistake and passing along the debt to future generations, who might not be able to see the light of day due to the overwhelming debt. Sanford might have accepted some of the payment, but it will no doubt be used to address the current debt situation that South Carolina has been experiencing. Common sense is what we need in a leader, and no doubt, Sanford brings these strengths to the table.

  1. Mark Sanford is obviously a moron, and anyone who is not blindly following him can see that he is only hurting the students here. There is no way he will ever be President of our country, too many people (even from his own party) now recognize his idiocy.

  2. Obviously, the fact that Sanford is looking out on behalf of your state in the long run. By accepting the full amount of money from the stimulus, South Carolina will incur more debt over the next five years in terms of taxes, etc. While I am an advocate for education funding, it needs to be done in a common sense way. This money should be going to address the debt situation in South Carolina, and this can be done through tax relief measures for all taxpayers. In this case, education is less important.

Where, my dear Crystal Clear Conservative did the debt Mark Sanford wants to ‘pay down’ come from? It came from MARK SANFORD’s government’s spending because he was the govenor when the debt was created….duh! So, Mark Sanford did not INHERIT this debt he wants to ‘pay down’ and how does that make him fiscally responsible? Mark Sanford is pandering for national attention and thankfully, the nation is watching another idiot republican reveal inept stupidity.
