Breaking News Regarding State GOP Chair

Last night, the 11th Congressional District Republican Committee met to discuss a resolution to call for Jeff Frederick’s resignation as Chairman of the Republican Party of Virginia. The resolution failed to pass. Developing…

  1. The vote was 4-5-1.

Four voting in favor were the Fairfax reps on the commitee including FCRC Chair Bedell.

Five against were the SCC members (Drain, Damon, Ray) and PW Chair Lyle Beefelt.

One absention was City of Fairfax Chair Jim Kaplan… who said he supported the resolution… but decided to pull and Obama and not vote… and is now under fire from both sides. Well played.

The vote was swung by some dopey YR rep who didn’t even know there was a intra-party fight going on and just did whatever David Ray told her.

  2. I love the appreciation for young voters being shown in this whole process.

  3. If young voters read the newspaper or blogs once in awhile they would be appreciated.

  4. Witness,

Many young voters do read the newspapers and blogs (yeah, I am one them). Now, I am not taking sides on this battle (even though, I have my own personal opinions on this situation that have been shared with a few friends, which remain private), but I am certain many Virginia YR voters are informed on this issue through reading blogs and other online sources.

  5. Trust me this one wasn’t. I would have rather had you there for sure.

  6. David C.F. Ray

    Witness,

You indicate that “Four voting in favor were the Fairfax reps on the committee including FCRC Chair Bedell.” While it’s true Anthony DID vote for the resolution, which are the other three “Fairfax reps” to whom you refer? Just how many “Fairfax reps” do you believe there to BE on the 11th District Committee? Feel free to take your time in responding. I was there, after all, voting against the resolution, and I live in Fairfax County, so we know you don’t mean ME — not to mention, I’m not a “Fairfax rep,” I’m an 11th District Rep.

  7. Chris of Mason Conservative was kind enough to moderate this comment made on his blog,

“Yes it would have failed but when you commit to people and then back out it is a sign of weakness. People don’t respect it… just take a stand one way or the other. It is like Obama voting “present”.
The YR was some lady named Beatrice… who frankly the YR’s should be ashamed of having her rep them on the committee. Total dope.

I want everyone to see what people hiding behind pseudonyms are writing.

I’ve followed this and the continuous name-calling through the blogs.

My vote was based on the charges. I was satisfied with Chairman Frederick’s detailed response, and could not support the resolution asking for his resignation.

The fact that the name-calling is now being directed at me, shows that I voted the right way.

  8. Anthony Bedell (FCRC)

Everyone needs to stop this back and forth. The vote happened last week. It is over. Let’s stop the name calling as well. Beatrice did what she thought was right… so respect it and move on.

  9. As I stated at the meeting, I have never had the RPV help or hinder my efforts in the City of Fairfax. Therefore, I do not particularly care if Frederick is removed. It will not impact my City.

While I stated that I thought the state got what it deserved in electing Jeff, I also said he is guilty of either the things his opponents accuse him of or guilty of being unable to work with party leadership. Both showed he was an ineffective leader.

By the time I voted, the resolution already had 5 votes opposed and would not pass. As such, I could signal my disdain for the whole process by sitting it out. If I had been the deciding vote, I would probably have cast a vote deciding the resolution. As I wasn’t, I’ll just continue to put this aside and focus on what matters – winning Republican votes in Fairfax City.

Anyone who thinks I pulled an Obama by showing up and not voting is just silly – this vote made no difference. Even if it passed, it was just a sense of the body resolution. As such, I felt free to ignore a meaningless vote.

Anyone who thinks Beatrice doesn’t have a mind of her own as YR rep has never been there for divided votes in the past. She cast the deciding vote IN FAVOR of a congressional PRIMARY last year in support of my motion and opposed to Mr. Ray. She clearly listens to both sides and then makes up her own mind.
