Does anyone have a solution to economic recovery?

I have been asking myself this question lately, along with another question: Is there a true solution to economic recovery that will not increase our taxes and further threaten our prosperity as a nation? After all, the Republicans caved to the Democrats when it came to the first round of the bailouts, and the Democrats spend like a thirteen year old girl at Claire’s Boutique or Abercrombie. So, yes, both parties have something to do with the economic crisis.

There is no real simple answer to these two questions, as both the Republicans and Democrats each have their own solutions to economic recovery, along with the fact that these solutions will no doubt have some tax hikes within them. Yesterday, the Republicans released “The Road to Recovery,” which is part of their solution towards improving the economy. This plan offers ways to curb government spending, create more jobs, and controlling the debt by limiting bailouts. They are starting to recognize the ills of their ways and acting more like fiscal conservatives.

Maybe, this is a solution that will work, but it will be difficult with a numbskull (Timothy Geithner) serving as Secretary of Treasury and a Commander-in-Chief (Obama) who still believes he is in campaign mode and often relies on a teleprompter to give him all of the answers.

However, the real solution to economic recovery is by being fiscally conservative. Stop all unnecessary government spending, allow more transparency into the process, cut taxes for individuals and businesses (better yet, install the Fair Tax plan that Steve Forbes proposed during his 2000 Presidential campaign), and ending all government bailouts. If we do this, we are headed towards economic recovery.

  1. Yea. Solution to economic recovery = Cut Taxes. All of them. Cut the business tax rate in half, eliminate Cap Gains tax, and cut the tax rates on people by half. Let us keep more of the money we make.

  2. I think C3 and Lorraine have the right ideas. I remember when the Republican Party used to stand for things like that.

Now, we have to pay for the hubris of BS’ing policy wonks.

  3. If it weren’t for my college education, I would totally agree with Lorraine.
