What would you do if you paid your house in full (without taking out a mortgage loan) and a bank was trying to foreclose on your house? You would take this bank to court and get an injunction for the bank to leave you alone. It seems like a fair thing to do, and you would also demand them to pay your court fees.
In Florida, this scenario happened to a couple who paid their house in full, and Bank of America tried to foreclose on them, even though the couple did not take out a mortgage on their house. This couple took Bank of America to court, and the judge ordered the bank to pay the court fees. In the end, Bank of America refused to pay the couple, so what happened? The couple got revenge and foreclosed on the bank. They got their money and got the satisfaction of not being taken advantage of.
Perhaps, this will teach other banks and corporations not to take advantage of consumers. It should open the eyes of those in Congress and state legislatures to provide more protections for consumers against these abuses.
