Well, it’s Romney/Ryan 2012! Game on…and welcome to The Great Hair Ticket.
Am I disappointed in the pick? No. Actually, Romney needed Paul Ryan to boost the Republican ticket. Ryan has a pretty solid record on fiscal issues, which will definitely be appealing to those who are fiscally conservative, and he also has a libertarian lean (as noted in the video below).
While there are some issues where I disagree with Ryan, I think he is a solid pick. This will no doubt help Romney in the Midwest, where the race has been tightened.
We need change. I don’t think the hope and change that was elected in 2008 is the answer (rather that change has been a disaster). The real change is someone who is actually committed to turning around our economy and reducing government spending. This has been an area, where Barack Obama and his cronies have failed consistently. Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan are more committed to getting America back on the right track.
Oh, and I am so glad this website is back…”Hey Girl, it’s Paul Ryan.”
I love this government is bad Meme in the USA. I have lived in Germany and the UK since 2008 and can tell you – nobody starts every political conversation with the all government is bad Meme. There are unions in Germany, high productivity, a middle class, high wages, universal healthcare, and freedom. This Meme although sticky is not helping America.
Government can’t fix the problem – government is the problem…. this entire Meme has been incredibly successful. The problem is both parties used the Meme to let special interests re-write rules that favored a middle class. Let JPM and GS write the rules – they understand business better than technocrats. And in the end – instead of creating more freedom the Meme killed freedom by making the government have to socialize the entire banking and financial systems.
By trying to kill the government – and the New Deal we now are going back to the environment that spawned the New Deal. That would be the complete break down of the middle class and the real possibility of actual revolution. The New Deal was better than an overthrown government – no matter how many people repeat the Meme when there is no more middle class there is not going to be freedom.
