File this under crazy…

If you think I am taking a swing at Maryland today, you are right. Why not bash the liberal bastion to the North? After all, they have to push some sort of agenda. Aside from the economic outlook for Maryland, there will soon be some changes to the high school curriculum, and this won’t surprise you the least.

Maryland high school students will now have to take an environmental literacy course before they can graduate high school. While some students are struggling with knowing basic grammar skills and history, there will not be a shortage of learning how not to pollute the environment and how to save the Chesapeake Bay. Yep, you can forget about the date of the Magna Carta, but you can ensure that students will become indoctrinated with the environmental agenda.

Perhaps, it is time for Marylanders to step aside and think about electing new leadership that will actually improve the quality of education, rather than pushing forward an agenda.

Been a little silent lately…

I am sorry if I have been silent lately. There have been some circumstances that have kept me offline, but I am hoping to be back in a few days.

File this under stupid…

Ordinarily, I would not report on stupidity, but this deserves mention. Baltimore Ravens linebacker, Ray Lewis, said crime will increase if the NFL has no season due to a lockout. Note the crime increase part. It’s ironic that Lewis would mention crime increases, considering that he was indicted for murder back in 2000 (charges were dropped and he took a misdemeanor charge).

The comment was stupid. Yes, there will be disappointed fans if the NFL season does not proceed, but this does not necessarily point to a crime increase.

RIP Randy "Macho Man" Savage

Gee, this sucks! Macho Man Randy Savage died today.

Your So-Called Economic Recovery at work

Where’s the hope and change that was promised to Americans in 2008, when then candidate Barack Obama was campaigning for the Presidency? Now, the hope has dissolved, along with your change. Over the course of Obama’s term as President, we have seen unemployment numbers at an all time high, and the government continues to spend above and beyond its limits.

Despite unemployment and government spending, there are two additional factors that will prove the economy is in a downslide. Take for example, yesterday, an independent ratings agency, Weiss Ratings, indicated that the U.S. rating should be a ‘C’. According to Martin Weiss, President of Weiss Ratings, a ‘C’ Rating is comparable to a triple-B S&P rating. These ratings are justified by the massive debt burden and economic volatility.

The other factor that does not bode well for economic recovery is the decline of the dollar. According to a Reuters report, the dollar fell to a three-year low due to the unemployment numbers.

The question remains: When will the federal government wake up and actually address the debt burden and unemployment? This is not recovery by any stretch of the imagination.

Happy Earth Day (and Karl Marx's Birthday)!

In honor of Earth Day, I have to count the number of carbon footprints I tracked today. Today also marks another thing to celebrate besides the Earth…Karl Marx. Communists everywhere are celebrating Marx’s birth and his contributions to communism through the Manifesto. Also, today marks the anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s death.    That’s not what I am worried about, as tomorrow marks another important day:  Washington Capitals take on the New York Rangers. Let’s hope for a not too close to call game that drove me to consuming half a keg. So, in the time that I took to write my post about Earth Day,celebrating the communist hack, Marx, and remembering Lincoln’s death, I have expelled a total of ten freaking carbon footprints.  By the way, if you can ride your bike to your nearest Starbucks with a reusable mug for a free cup of coffee.

Packing Your Child's Lunch…think again

Would you want a school principal to determine which lunch option is better for your child? Just think about it for a second. You are the parent, and you prepare food for your child on a daily basis, meals that are nutritious for the most part. You send your child to school with a packed lunch, only for a school administrator to make the child throw the lunch away for one that is made by the school.

This situation is one that many parents are facing in Chicago, Ill., as schools are forcing children to eat their lunches. These lunches are often unappealing, as the Chicago Tribune points out, but this is not the point I am trying to get to here. A school administrator actually thinks that she can determine what is better in terms of nutrition for children, not their parents. Many school lunches are loaded with preservatives and sodium, which does not bode well for nutritional quality. The other point that is often ignored is how much will the school cafeteria benefit from such a decision. In Chicago, the company that services school lunches will receive financial benefit from such a decision and create a monopoly of sorts.

While you may or may not disagree with the decision in Chicago, this should pose a question: How would you feel if you were told how to raise your child? It is not the responsibility of the government or the school system. It is the parent’s responsibility on how they raise and feed their child.

Should Obama have his Nobel Peace Prize Revoked?

When President Barack Obama was given the Nobel Peace Prize, I questioned whether or not he deserved this honor. After all, he hadn’t done much to deserve it, other than promise to withdraw troops from Iraq and Afghanistan. Fast forward to 2011, I am now questioning whether the prize should be revoked, especially since the troops haven’t left Iraq or Afghanistan yet, and we are now fighting Operation Odyssey Dawn in Libya. How does war justify the honor of the Nobel Peace Prize?

Just another Barack Obama promise down the drain…

Where's Obama? Brackets or Being an Effective Leader

With the recent events in Japan and Libya, one has to ask where is President Obama’s response in the midst of these events. No need to ask, all you have to do is look at the headlines. Obama has shown that he is more focused on predicting bracket winners for the NCAA Basketball tournaments (both men and women), rather than the global affairs. It is no wonder why Secretary of State Hillary Clinton looks more Presidential than Obama, as she is pulling overtime work to address these issues. Meanwhile, Obama, who favors Kansas and Connecticut to win NCAA tournaments, is traveling on global missions to focus on economic development. I guess this is what you would call a “vacation,” in Obama terms.

Well, it’s obvious that Obama has shown that effective leadership revolves around vacations. In fact, he has traveled on more “vacations,” when troubled times have come about. The Washington Times wrote an editorial recently chiding Obama for his golf outings, basketball bracket selections, and his trip to Brazil, rather than handling the potential of a government shutdown and the crisis situations in both Libya and Japan.

The Mideast crisis is continuing, and Hillary Rodham Clinton has been the one taking the 3 a.m. phone calls. The secretary of state has been dealing with political reform in Egypt, a military crackdown in Bahrain and the continuing civil war in Libya. However, she is hampered by a chief executive who can’t make up his mind which course of action would best secure his place in history. It’s no wonder she took the opportunity to tell CNN she had no interest in continuing in the job in a theoretical Obama second term.

It’s 4 a.m., Mr. President, and you have obviously been hitting the “snooze” button since 3 a.m.

Side note: Since Obama has a penchant for bracket picks, let’s analyze what has happened to his bracket. Of course, everyone is feeling his pain, as the following picks have gone down to defeat: Michigan State, Louisville, and Georgetown. Basically, his bracket is the same as my bracket…not too shabby. This is coming from a hardcore NCAA basketball fan, but being an effective leader is more important than predicting winners in a sports tournament…don’t you think?

Yet Another Reason to Defund NPR

After the firing of Juan Williams from NPR, I felt that there should have been some changes in the NPR leadership and for Congress to remove funding from this agency immediately. Now, the time has come to end the gravy train for NPR, especially after this video, and the remarks by the senior executive in this video only goes to show the liberal bias of this organization.

Since the release of the video, there have been some changes over at NPR. Ron Schiller, an NPR Senior Executive, and Vivian Schiller, CEO of NPR have been fired from their positions.

While this news is overdue, it is imperative that the Federal government eliminate funding to NPR. NPR and any other form of public broadcasting is not something that should be funded by the government. At least, Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) and other legislators are recognizing that it is not the government’s role to be funding television or radio programming. I am certain that the taxpayers don’t want to be funding entertainment, rather receiving their money back and allowing them to spend it accordingly.
