Have we forgotten the Constitution?

As we approach the upcoming elections, there is no doubt that a great transition will be taking place in Congress with the Democrats losing power to the Republicans. With the current leadership in Congress abandoning their responsibilities of representing those who elected them to office, one has to look at the transition as being a good thing. However, there is something else that needs to be examined. Will these new legislators listen to the voters and adhere to constitutional principles, or will they continue to be in the pockets of special interests?

Today, I was reading an article that a friend sent to me about reclaiming the Constitution.

Needless to say, it inspired me to write this post as the memories from 1994 came flooding back. During the Republican Revolution of 1994, there was a great rise by these new Congressmen (and women) to put America back on the right track. However, as we had learned, power began to corrupt many legislators and we ended up losing seats each election cycle. All along the way, it seemed like both the GOP and the Democrats were playing to the special interests, while forgetting about the Constitution.

Special interests do not equal adhering to the Constitution. Instead, they were trampling on our liberties by influencing our leaders to support more regulations and increased government spending. The new leaders should always be reminded that the American people elected them to represent their interests and to never forget the founding doctrines of our country. Hopefully, principle will prevail over the taste of power and special interests.

Intervention: Facing the Demons

The third installment of the Intervention series focusing on Rep. Gerry Connolly’s (D-Va.) service to his constituents.  If you have had enough of Connolly’s record as Congressman, vote for Keith Fimian on November 2nd.

The Washington Post Endorses Gerry Connolly

While this comes as no surprise, The Washington Post endorsed Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-Va.) to another term in Congress. After all, The Post editorial board would rather endorse a liberal than look from a fair and balanced perspective. However, this endorsement had a nice flaw though.

And Mr. Connolly has established himself as a fiscal moderate, for instance by opposing higher taxes on the wealthy to finance health-care reform.

Fiscal moderate and Connolly do not go hand-in-hand. Perhaps, The Post forgot to do their research on Connolly’s record (both as Chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors and as a Member of Congress). While serving as Chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, Connolly raised property taxes, increased spending by 56 percent, and left Fairfax County with a $650 million shortfall. Since being elected in 2008 to serve as Congressman, Connolly has voted for $600 billion in tax increases, including the cap and trade energy tax. Connolly also voted for the health care bill, which will continue to raise taxes, along with extending the death tax.

Does being a fiscal moderate include raising taxes on your constituents and increasing government spending? The Post evidently thinks so. Meanwhile, those in the 11th District might have a different outlook.

Today's Dose of Biden: You're the most dullest audience

In today’s segment (I know I have been falling off the tracks…forgive me, as my laptop is fried at this point) of Biden gaffes, The Hill reports that Vice President Joe Biden told an audience at a rally in Wisconsin today that they were the dullest audience he has ever spoken to. You have to hand it to Biden…he knows how to captivate attention.

The race in Virginia’s 5th District continues to heat up.

Fact Check Time: Gerry Connolly's First TV Ad

It’s about time to do a “fact check” of Rep. Gerry Connolly’s first TV ad. After all, Connolly’s ad focuses on making up things just to win favor from the voters in the 11th District. Kudos to Keith Fimian for doing the fact check.

Dale Peterson's Star Continues to Shine

Although he lost his primary to represent Alabama as their next Agriculture Commissioner, Dale Peterson has gained considerable attention for his YouTube ads challenging the “thugs and criminals” who are taking over government. His outreach on YouTube has made him an overnight celebrity, and there is no doubt that his star continues to rise.

Dukakis Comes out of the Tank to Give Some Advice to Dems

You might be thinking, “WTF Crystal Clear Conservative? Is this from The Onion?” No, because The Boston Globe beat them to the chase. Former one-time Presidential candidate, Michael Dukakis decided to stop by The White House to share his strategy for the 2010 elections.

Was his strategy to urge Obama to jump in the tank for a ride to boost the American public’s impression of his party being strong and in control or was it for the Democrats to play the George W. Bush blame game for the state of the nation? Basically, Dukakis said the Dems should continue linking Bush to the economic crisis.

Wait a second! Something just doesn’t seem right. Bush did spend excessively, but Obama has spent more in his first two years as President. Wouldn’t the best advice be to take responsibility and work towards correcting errors? Not in the Obama Administration.

Today's Dose of Biden: Stop Whining

To quote a line from Marie Antoinette, “Let them Eat Cake!,” and to update the line to 2010 standards, “Let them whine.” Perhaps, whining is needed in order to prevent Congress from destroying more of our liberties.
