Obama Defeated in Virginia…A Look at the 2011 State Elections
Posted by crystalclearconservative
I have to give props to Kimberley Strassel of The Wall Street Journal for her recent op-ed on President Obama’s decision to invest time in Virginia. Strassel pointed out what has been underlying in the 2011 elections in Virginia: the unpopular Presidency of Barack Hussein Obama. As mentioned by many in both the blogosphere and mainstream media, Obama’s star has been dimming due to his lack of interest in handling the economic situation, as well as pushing through damaging legislation, such as the health care plan.
Strassel was especially right, when she said: “Elected state Democrats—who form the backbone of grass-roots movements—couldn’t distance themselves far enough from Mr. Obama in this race. Most refused to mention the president, to defend his policies, or to appear with him.” This point was especially true, as many TV ads from Democratic candidates went above and beyond to keep their distance from the unpopular President.
With the results from Tuesday night’s election, Obama better think again about putting all of his energy in Virginia. Investing resources in Virginia was a bad move, as we saw how unpopular Obama was, especially in the Southern parts of the Commonwealth and in Loudoun County. While the election was in a low turnout year, this does not yield well in winning the Commonwealth, and in fact, he will have an even difficult time than he did in 2008.
Is Barack Obama a "Middle Class Warrior?"

“Now the Republicans, you know when I, I talked about this earlier in the week. They said ‘well, this is class warfare.’ You know what? If asking a billionaire to pay their fair of taxes. To pay the same tax rate as a plumber or a teacher is class warfare, then you know what? I, I, I, I, I’m, I’m a warrior for the middle class. I’m happy to fight for the middle class,” President Obama said at the Brent Spence Bridge in Cincinnati, OH.
This has got to be the most laughable thing I have ever heard. We have a President, who could care less about the unemployment in this country, yet he says he is a “warrior for the middle class.” We have a President, who would rather raise taxes, in order to spend more money on wasteful initiatives. Obama’s behavior is far from being concerned for the middle class. Aside from the President, you have the First Lady donned bracelets totaling $42,500. So much for looking out for the middle class, huh?
In the midst to address serious issues…

The White House released President Barack Obama’s birth certificate this morning, as a way to draw attention away from those questioning his nationality and refocusing attention on more pressing issues. Well, there it is! I hope everyone is happy. Now, let’s see if the President will actually address the issues, rather than shy away from them.
"I thought the media was my friend…"

President Barack Obama thought he was good friends with the media. However, when pressed on difficult topics, how quickly do the tables turn…just watch the interview. Now, this reporter could be banned from interviewing the President again, because he asked why Obama was unpopular in Texas.

Wow…some people can be so touchy. However, when it comes to criticism, President Obama can’t take it.
Should Obama have his Nobel Peace Prize Revoked?
Posted by crystalclearconservative
When President Barack Obama was given the Nobel Peace Prize, I questioned whether or not he deserved this honor. After all, he hadn’t done much to deserve it, other than promise to withdraw troops from Iraq and Afghanistan. Fast forward to 2011, I am now questioning whether the prize should be revoked, especially since the troops haven’t left Iraq or Afghanistan yet, and we are now fighting Operation Odyssey Dawn in Libya. How does war justify the honor of the Nobel Peace Prize?
Just another Barack Obama promise down the drain…

Barack Obama: First Female President?
Posted by crystalclearconservative
I was listening to WMAL’s The Grandy Group this morning on my commute into work, and they were discussing Kathleen Parker’s recent op-ed in The Washington Post, where she makes the clear comparison to how President Barack Obama is acting like a woman in terms of his leadership. During their discussion, many callers were agreeing with Parker’s statements and citing Obama’s lack of leadership with the BP crisis, along with other issues.
The question still remains: Does President Obama act like a female? Good question and one whose answer should not be taken lightly. This is also a topic that requires sensitivity.
While I agree with a few of the points raised in Ms. Parker’s op-ed, I would not go as far to say that Obama is the first female President. After all, he does not meet the gender requirements (though, you could imagine that this opens the doors for a new movement…the gender-izers) for this title. To say, that he acts like a female, this would mean offending many, myself included. Females are strong, sensitive, and personable. I mean, we take care of family (round-the-clock…you know, cooking, cleaning, keeping the house in order…i.e., the 24-hour shift), friends, and working outside the home. Obama does not fit that criteria by a long shot, as he is the Commander-in-Chief of our country…a full-time job with little to no explanation and one that requires leadership.
Ms. Parker was right in one area is that Obama should take more incentive in being a leader, rather than shying away from his elected duties. When Obama heard about the BP oil spill, his response was “Plug the Damn Hole.” It was masculine, but instead of taking the leadership role, he has shied away and focusing on other more important matters…playing golf, taking the Russian President to a burger joint. It appears that Obama is insecure about his leadership abilities and is delegating his job to Congress, who seems to have more power at this point than the President.
Perhaps, it is time for Obama to realize that being President requires strong leadership and determination. Instead of taking time off to play golf, Obama should be down in Louisiana working to solve the BP crisis or working to improve the economy (this is the top issue concerning Americans right now). If he continues this path, it does not bode well for his re-election chances come 2012.

The Employment Vanishing Act
Posted by crystalclearconservative
Yesterday, amidst a crowd of supporters at Northern Virginia Community College’s Alexandria campus, President Barack Obama signed the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act into law. Obama promised that this law will enable more students to achieve a college education and have more affordable loan payments upon graduation. The Washington Examiner reports:
“To make sure our students don’t go broke just because they chose to go to college, we’re making it easier for graduates to afford their student loan payments,” Obama said.
“The average student ends up with more than $23,000 in debt. So when this change takes effect in 2014, we’ll cap a graduate’s annual student loan repayments at 10 percent of his or her income.”Under the measure, private banks would no longer get fees for acting as middlemen in federal student loans. The government would use the savings to boost Pell Grants and make it easier for some workers to repay their student loans. In addition, some borrowers could see lower interest rates and higher approval rates on student loans. Savings are also meant to go toward reducing the deficit and helping to pay for expanded health care.
While this may seem like a noble idea, it does not come cheap for the taxpayers or for the student loan lenders. The Wall Street Journal mentioned in a recent op-ed that the subsidies included in this act will eventually drive up the costs of a college education and the taxpayers would eventually be stuck footing the bill.
If you think the taxpayers are going to be feeling the pinch, there will be many more joining the ranks of the unemployed, as it will cost the student loan industry to reduce their workforce significantly. Sallie Mae will be slashing 2,500 jobs due to the recent passage of this bill. This should have been aptly renamed to The Employment Vanishing Act. With unemployment numbers at an all-time high, 9.7%, this will only cause more turmoil for American families over time and continue to add to our economic woes.
So, will President Obama’s decision to help make higher education more affordable? The costs will likely appear to point to higher taxes, increased government control, and more people joining the unemployment lines.

The So-Called Transparency of Obama and Democrats in Congress
Posted by crystalclearconservative
In 2008, I am certain that you recall the promises of hope and change by then Candidate Barack Obama, as he was seeking the Presidency and by the Democrats in Congress. Both Obama and the Democrat leadership in Congress also promised transparency within the legislative process. Now, that Obama is President of the United States and the Democrats are in power, this has all but dissipated. With the health care debates looming in Congress, there are more indications that the American people will not be able to see the legislators discuss in their conference proceedings about what will be included in the final plan. Instead, we will be left in the dark wondering what will become of our current health care system.
A couple days ago, C-SPAN founder Brian Lamb sent a letter to the Democratic leadership and Obama citing his concerns about the lack of openness, as well as petitioning to allow the American people to witness these proceedings. Did the Democratic leadership consider Lamb’s requests? No. Instead, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the leadership held a press conference yesterday to say that they were not certain whether cameras would be allowed in to the meetings or if there would be an open conference meeting. Meanwhile, Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid have been meeting behind closed doors to iron out the details, thus bypassing the mandatory conference meetings required for a final version of the bill.
The Democrats in Congress, as well as President Obama, should remember one key thing. When you make promises to the American people to hold open meetings, then expect to receive some harsh feedback when you fail to meet those promises. It is all about accountability.

DPVA Mailer Filled With False Claims
Posted by crystalclearconservative
Recently, the Democratic Party of Virginia has been sending out mailers that incorrectly states that John McCain opposes equal pay for women. Now, it is time for a little clarity to be shed on this claim.
The truth: Neither Barack Obama or McCain have never made statements or suggestions saying that they are against equal pay for women. They merely have different thoughts on how to handle legal deadlines for bringing pay discrimination claims. Of course, Obama will prefer the longer deadlines for the cases, extending for years after the discrimination actually takes place.
According to a post on OpenMarket.org, there are many legal implications to the equal pay case and the end results make the recent mailers from the Democratic Party of Virginia to be inaccurate.
In a recent case heard by the Supreme Court, Ledbetter v. Goodyear, the Court found that you have file a suit according to Title VII standards within the timeframe of the first paycheck for discrimination suits. It was a split decision, with the liberal justices voting to extend the time, when a discrimination suit can be filed, and the conservatives voting to keep the regulations as is.
McCain sided with the conservative majority and voted to keep the regulations of the deadlines to file a lawsuit. There is no way that this can be connotated to say whether or not McCain is in favor of equal pay. It appears to me that more research needs to be done before you can even send out mailers with fallacies.
