You've got to be (expletive) kidding me…

Wow! I am (expletive) speechless that a political candidate would air this commercial. This is coming from a candidate running for Mayor in New Orleans. In the Big Easy, I guess anything goes.

Dirty Campaigning Needs a Song

Newspapers across the Commonwealth have called Creigh Deeds out for his negative campaign tactics.  Don’t you think dirty campaigning needs a theme song?

Jody Wagner's New Ad: Just another day in Wonderland

Jody Wagner, Democratic candidate for Lieutenant Governor, released her first TV ad citing that she has actually balanced the budget. Where did she pull that claim from? Was it from the so-called Lieutenant Governor’s Mansion or thin air?

Perhaps, it is time to shed some light on Ms. Wagner’s claim. While serving as Secretary of Finance, Wagner was overly optimistic in her revenue projections, which resulted in $7 billion in budget shortfalls. The TV ad featured a clip from a News Virginian op-ed that praised Governor Tim Kaine for pruning the budget, but this same op-ed also chided the Kaine administration for their overly optimistic projections. Ironically, Wagner still can’t get simple citations right either, because the ad mentions the News Virginian article as being published on September 14, 2009.

From the News Virginian editorial cited in Wagner’s ad: “This marks the fourth time that Kaine has been forced to cut his two-year budget, putting the total reductions at $7 billion. That’s mostly the result of the national economy slipping into freefall, an event that produced fiscal calamity in some states, though not here. But Kaine cannot escape altogether culpability for a recurring predicament. He repeatedly has ignored the ring of alarms sounded by Republicans over his revenue projections only to wipe egg from his face later.” (“Governor Gets it Right, Sorta,” Waynesboro News Virginian, Sept 11, 2009*)

Additionally, Wagner’s ad mentioned that she created jobs. Currently, 144,000 Virginians are unemployed. Is that considered job creation? No, but Wagner has supported increasing your taxes and will support a Creigh Deeds tax increase.

This is not the type of leadership Virginia needs. We need solid, reliable leadership in Richmond to help deal with getting Virginia’s economy on track.

Desperation = Attacks

You can tell that the Deeds campaign is getting more desperate. In this video, a Deeds campaign staffer took the desperation to another level by keeping those who disagree with them away by using physical force. At about the 29 second mark, you can see what they did to the anti-tax protester, who attended the public meetup outside the Clarendon Metro stop.

Assault and desperation does not win political races, rather it is the proposals and vision for improving the community that does win.

No Justice

Ken Cuccinelli released his first TV ad called “No Justice,” which displays Cuccinelli’s record in reaching across the aisle to close a loophole that would allow drunk drivers and drug dealers to get off punishment scot free.

Bill Bolling Releases Second Campaign Ad

Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling released another campaign ad that highlights his business background and his plans to boost the economy by providing incentives to bring new businesses to the Commonwealth, keeping taxes low, and cutting government waste.

What is Creigh Deeds' Focus?

So…after focusing on Bob McDonnell’s thesis, we finally learn what Creigh Deeds will be focusing on: improving the economy. However, one has to ask where is his plans for boosting the economy, how he plans to bring more jobs to Virginia, etc.

Who's the Copycat in the race for Governor?

When are we going to see any of Creigh Deeds’ original ideas for improving the Commonwealth’s economic situation or the ideas for bringing new jobs to Virginia? (Crickets are still chirping)

There's No Reset in Politics

There is no way to go back in time to fix the mistakes you made, and this applies to everything in life, including politics. Perhaps, Creigh Deeds should realize this.

Flawed Logic from Jody in Wonderland

If this doesn’t take the cake, I don’t know what will. Jody Wagner criticized Bob McDonnell and Bill Bolling’s transportation plan without providing an alternative. Wagner also criticized Bolling for not supporting Governor Tim Kaine’s plan, which would have raised taxes over the course of six years.

Obviously, Wagner loves a plan with more taxes, especially since this might be the primary basis of her plan. When Wagner was Secretary of Finance, she supported EVERY one of Kaine’s tax hike, including the following:

2006: Titling Tax – 2% increase in Motor Vehicle Sales and Use Tax, increase by 2.25% auto insurance premium fee, weight based registration fee (failed)

2007: Increase in Vehicle Registration fee by $20 ($15 now, and an additional $5 in 2010) and increase in the car sales tax by 2% (failed)

2008: 1% increase on titling tax, $10 increase on car registration, 1% increase in Sales Tax (NOVA and Hampton Roads), 25 cent increase in Grantor Tax (failed)

So, why would we want someone who would raise our taxes (especially since Washington will be doing plenty of that for us over the next four years)?
