Reflections and a change…

I have been doing a lot of serious reflections over the course of this year, in terms of the direction of CCC. Frankly, I have come to the point where I want to focus on other things outside of politics. Living, breathing, and eating politics over the past five years, I have realized that it has been burning me out. In fact, when I come home at night, the first thing I really want to do is to watch ESPN or Food Network to escape politics as usual. Blogging is usually the last thing I want to do at the end of the day. With this being said, I am still going to write about politics every now and then, but there will be some running and cooking thrown into the mix for a balance.

As I approach the fourth anniversary of CCC, I am grateful to those who read my contributions and to those who challenge me to think outside the box. It means a lot to have your support over the course of this adventure. Not to worry, I am not planning to peace out of the blog world. There is still much work to be done, especially with my contributions over at Bearing Drift too. (Side note: If you like what you read over at Bearing Drift, you should contribute to their efforts…there is a lot of exciting things happening.)

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I leave you with the best Christmas greeting ever (H/T to Rep. Scott Rigell (R-Va.)

Happy 3rd Blogiversary

Today, CCC celebrates a wonderful three years of service in the blogosphere. CCC has survived, even though I have not been contributing as often as I would like over this past year. Thank you for your readership…now, on to another exciting year ahead.

Growing Older…but not up!

Today’s my Birthday! As a Parrothead, I feel Jimmy Buffett has it right when he discusses becoming another year older through his song, “Growing Older, but not Up.”

I'm Back!

Just in case you missed me…I’m back from my blogging hiatus. From moving out from my underground bunker to a new location and vacation, I realized that I needed to come back for some entertainment eventually.

Congratulations Allison and the Class of 2010

Today, I want to do something outside of politics and sports, as it is a very special day for me and my family.

My sister, Allison will be graduating from the University of Maryland this morning with her Bachelor’s Degree. This is quite an achievement, as she will be the second person in our family to graduate from college (I was the first). I am so proud of her and wish her the best as she prepares for a career as a Child Life specialist working with children who have terminal illnesses.

Congratulations Allison and the Class of 2010! In the words of Elle Woods from Legally Blonde, you (she said we, but I wanted to make it more personal) did it! Oh and GO TERPS!

The Answer to your Questions…

Some of you may be wondering why I haven’t been posting too much lately.

Photobucket

This should answer one part of that question…and yes, I beat my personal best run time for a 4.98 mile run. On my own, I ran the same mileage in 52:52, and for my first race, I ran it in 50:32. For someone who was always picked last in gym class when in school, I actually felt like I accomplished something athletic (other than blocking a double during a close softball game). Now, I am working towards a half-marathon in October.

The other parts involve a move and vacation time right around the corner. Don’t worry, I’ll still be around with a post here and there.

Welcome to the Wolfpack…Bourgeois Bohemian!

Well…our wolfpack here at CCC has grown by 1 and now, we are of a wolfpack of four (200 Grande, Modest Mouse, CCC, and now…Bourgeois Bohemian). In case you were wondering about the wolfpack reference, click here.

Bourgeois Bohemian is going to be quite the rabble rouser. Welcome aboard!

Changes Coming to CCC

Once again, CCC will be encountering a few changes this week, so posting will be sporadic. Right now, I am in the process of switching hosting companies and fixing some of the current features of the site design. My current hosting company has decided to double my hosting fees, thus making it impossible to stay online if I did not make an instant switch to a new hosting company. Hopefully, everything will be online by the end of the week and posting will resume with a bang.

In the meantime, I hope you are enjoying the posting. If not, you can email me with feedback and/or praise.  As always, if you really, really like CCC and would like us to stay online for a while, please feel free to click donate on the sidebar.

Some Honest Scrap about CCC

Ginny Ray of Obi’s Sister tagged me with this thing and I’ll play along, since I’m just tired of all the news today and I want some attention.

Here’s the rules: 1. Thank the person who “nominated” you and link back. 2. “Nominate” seven more bloggers to spread the happiness. 3. Tell ten honest things about yourself.

Thank you Ginny for nominating me for this honor.

Second, I am nominating the following bloggers:
TruePravda
Cathouse Chat
SWAC Girl
Leslie Carbone
Scott of Scott’s Morning Brew
Katy’s Conservative Corner
Mason Conservative

Now, it’s on to the ten honest things about me.

  1. I am a Baltimorean by birth, now a transplant Virginian
  2. I am a rebel. Case in point, I am the more conservative end of my family, I am a die-hard Yankees fan in a Baltimore Orioles fanatic family…the list could go on and on.
  3. I am allergic to oranges, so needless to say, life is not easy…oh well!
  4. Softball is the sport I play, and as you can guess, I am the catcher, whose best play to date was the foul tip caught from behind home plate that won our game.
  5. During college, one of the ways I earned money was to be a fitness trainer. It was awesome.
  6. I love white roses and stargazer lilies.
  7. My favorite movie is Napoleon Dynamite, followed by The Hangover.
  8. I prefer Red Wine over White Wine.
  9. When I was growing up, my first foray into politics was at a town council meeting when I was seven. I made it onto TV with lasagna stains on my face. It was awesome, because they filmed me asking a question about taxes to the Mayor Pro-Tem.
  10. Last, but not least, I am referred to as the family blonde, even though my hair color has changed several times over the past thirteen years, going from my native auburn, to dark brown, to platinum blonde, to bright red (two days before college graduation in 2004), to strawberry blonde, back to platinum blonde, back to light brown,…finally back to auburn. So, I don’t get the reference.

CCC Question Hour

Okay, here’s your chance to ask a question and receive an answer from Crystal Clear Conservative. These questions can be about anything, and I’ll provide answers throughout the day.

Seriously, this could be your chance to receive a straight up shot of Crystal Clear advice.

Tell your friends, tell the next door neighbor, and heck, even tell Manny Ramirez to join in the fun.
