Obama's Use and Abuse of Property Rights
In case you were curious, property rights are under assault by the Obama Administration. Read Michael Barone’s article in The Washington Examiner.
Barone mentions that the United Auto Workers are receiving kickbacks for their support of President Obama’s campaign last year. One of those kickbacks is that the UAW could own 55% of Chrysler and 43% of General Motors (GM).
The White House, presumably car czar Steven Rattner and deputy Ron Bloom, is seeking to transfer the property of one group of people to another group that is politically favored. In the process, it is setting aside basic property rights in favor of rewarding the United Auto Workers for the support the union has given the Democratic Party. The only possible limit on the White House’s power is the bankruptcy judge, who might not go along.
So…what’s going to happen to GM? After all, GM’s bondholders are watching this situation closely, since Chrysler’s bondholders are suing for their fair share of the money. Will they also have to sue to attempt to preserve their property rights? Either way, it looks like Obama has drop kicked property rights to the curb.
Obama's First 100 Days
What has Barack Obama done for America lately? He has destroyed the free market economy by subscribing to Keynesian hack theories, subscribing to even more bailouts, pushing for card check unionization (which would shove America under the union’s lock and step), and he has advanced his social agenda by promoting hate crimes legislation, disrespecting human life (think recent confirmation of Kathleen Sebelius, cheerleader for Planned Parenthood).
Has Obama’s first 100 days been successful? In my opinion, he has not been successful. If Obama is making his priority to continue FDR’s legacy, then our country will be paying for these decisions for a long time. History will be a judge of Obama’s legacy with the first 100 days.
Update: I could not pass mentioning this video.
First 100 Days: Obama's Spending Spree Causes Government Expansion
Since we are almost at the 100 Day mark for the Obama Administration, it is time to look back and ask, “What has Barack Obama done for you lately?” If you are like me, your answer will be to spend taxpayer dollars like it’s going out of style, push his radical social agenda on Americans, and having his DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano consider all those who have opposite political views considered extremists. In order to make this brief, he has done nothing for anyone.
Fox News shares the news that Obama’s spending spree has caused an even larger expansion of the federal government since World War II. Many economic experts are warning that more challenges face Obama. For example:
Among the warning signs: The Government Accountability Office said Thursday that states need help covering the cost of overseeing their share of the massive federal stimulus program.
Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner told a congressionally appointed oversight panel this week that America’s banks are still broken, despite all their bailout billions. And an inspector general assigned to the bailout program concluded this week that a private-public partnership designed to buy up bad assets is tilted in favor of private investors and creates “potential unfairness to the taxpayer.”
Add to this, if more government programs are created, it will become a challenge to cut them in the future, as many jobs will be lost placing the U.S. into higher unemployment rates.
We're Terrorists…B**** Please!
The Department of Homeland Security has warned of the rise of a new group of terrorists. Who might these new terrorists be? None other than right wing extremists (I guess I fall into this category), those who might own guns, and veterans (talk about disrespect, these men and women gave their lives for their country, why in the hell would they be terrorists?). The sick thing is that the Obama administration has decided to pigeonhole us, because we might be seeking new recruits and threatening President Obama.
When FOX News first reported this, I thought it was a huge prank or rather stupid that a Federal government agency would have the gall to play partisan politics and pick out certain groups that hardly impose any threats. However, the news became reality, as I received numerous amounts of feeds on my RSS reader indicating the developments.
Since most of us will gather together today for our respective tax day tea parties, one can only imagine what will occur in terms of the Homeland Security alert. I have received an e-mail from a friend in Maryland, who will be active in one of the tea parties in the Baltimore area that the Maryland National Guard will be on alert today. Why? Because Maryland fears violence with the tea party attacks. It’s sick when we can’t peacefully assemble to share our dissent with the recent economic decisions of the Obama administration.
I never thought I would ever see my beloved country, which stands for freedom and justice for all, ever become a state where the government is paranoid over those who wish to express themselves in a non-violent way. After all, many of us are peacefully assembling across the country to express our dissent over the economic decisions Barack Obama recently made. It is hardly a terrorist activity, so I am left to express this…how are we terrorists again? We’re not terrorists!

Obama's Budget Reaches the House
In the next chapter of Fiscal Responsibility, Congress will be debating and voting on President Obama’s budget tomorrow. With close to $3.8-4 trillion dollars in spending, this bill is the grim reaper of national debt that will last for a long time. The budget includes proposals to limit defense spending, impose a national energy tax, and increased spending on health care proposals. It is not looking good on Capitol Hill right now, and this is not what taxpayers need.
Tonight, I had the opportunity to participate in a Blogger’s Conference Call with Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-Roanoke). Goodlatte discussed the current budget bill, which will be debated and voted on tomorrow. This bill calls for the further expansion of the government and will be spending trillions of dollars over the next year. It is a disgrace that we will be buried in debt due to this horrid proposal. A surprising statistic mentioned during the call was that our current and rising debt does make our country ineligible for admittance to the European Union.
Goodlatte is definitely an advocate for the taxpayers, as he indicated that there are two different Republican budget alternatives. One was proposed by the Republican Study Committee and the other was proposed by Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wisconsin). The one proposed by Rep. Ryan and the Republicans on the Budget Committee can be found here.
Goodlatte mentioned that he would support either one of these plans, but prefers a plan that would balance the budget and scrap the tax code to a simpler tax code with six guiding principles. When asked about the estate tax, Goodlatte indicated that this is set to expire in 2010, and it will go back to its standardized rate of 55% in 2011. Families whose loved ones die after 2010 would have to incur this massive debt. Goodlatte also touched on another tax that is likely to come from this budget that would make us more dependent on foreign oil. The Cap and Trade tax on energy will cost American families $1,200 a year and it will also drive jobs out of the country.
Additionally, Goodlatte said this budget is going to hurt small businesses. Along with the real estate taxes, employment taxes, capital gains taxes, and a dividends tax increase, it will be difficult for small businesses to stay afloat and make a decent living. It is particularly worrisome to someone who is considering opening a small business with the added regulations that will be placed on them.
The most worrying part of this budget is the massive amounts of spending that the Obama administration is proposing, and we are headed in the wrong direction. The increased size of government no doubt creates more fear, along with the proposed universal health care.
A special thanks to Congressman Goodlatte and his staff for hosting this conference call tonight. It was very informative, and hopefully, there will be more opportunities to participate in future calls.

Uh Oh…Another Tax Woe for Another Nominee
Gee, the ailment known as “Tax-itis” has plagued the Obama Administration again. This time, Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius, who is the nominee for Secretary of Health and Human Services admitted to her own tax errors and paid $7,000 in back taxes. Hmm…Obama just can’t win, can he?
Is this the type of change we can afford to believe in?
As we approach the 100 day mark for the Obama administration, we have already witnessed the preliminary phase of change with disastrous economic policies and policies that are threatening the sanctity of human life. The size of government will be doubling, and even more shocking will be the increased power that Timothy Geithner has requested for the Department of Treasury. Even one Congressman went as far to call Geithner out on his radical request. The Obama administration is already starting to show its stripes for all of America and the world to see.
The NRSC has a great video online about Candidate Obama vs. President Obama. There’s no doubt that Obama is treating his Presidency like a political campaign.
Although Obama was duly elected as President, it does not mean that we have to support or believe in his proposed “changes.” Rather, it is time to rise up and have our voices heard. You can do this by attending a local Tax Day Tea Party to show your disdain for the trillion dollar debt, increased government regulations, protest the wasteful government spending and bailouts. This is not the time to sit down and watch the government steal your liberties.
Obama to U.S. Veterans: "No Health Care for You"
The disastrous first 100 days of President Obama’s administration will be marred by the following: bailouts, AIG scandal, Stimulus and Omnibus, proposals of universal health care, and now, the possibility of eliminating veterans health care. So far, Obama will be sending us into a black hole of doom that have massive impact on all of us, as well as future generations. Excuse me, while I am preparing for a huge Republican comeback in 2010 and 2012, because Obama is the worst President since Jimmy Carter’s Administration of Doom back in the late 70s and early 80s.
Now, for the most recent addition to the 100 days agenda, Obama has decided to cut costs in the wrong way by proposing a plan that will force veterans to pay for their own medical treatment and rehabilitation from injuries they received during their military service. Why would our President slap our veterans in the face? Obama wants more money to fund more government spending.
This is generating some fire from legislators on both sides of the aisle coming out against Obama’s plan, knowing that this will place more strain on members of our military coming home from Iraq with serious injuries. According to CNN, Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) has said this plan would be “dead on arrival,” and Rep. Mike Michaud (D-ME) said he would oppose the budget package if this was included.
It is a shame that Obama has no respect for veterans and their sacrifices for our country. We have a moral obligation to care for those who have been in harm’s way while serving our country; not exploiting them for cash.
The Lifestyles of the Greedy and Despicable
Welcome to the Lifestyles of the Greedy and Despicable! This week’s episode features an insurance firm, who begged for and received money from the Federal government, only to use this money to give bonuses for top executives. Who was this insurance firm? Does AIG sound familiar to you? Well, it should. After all, they received $12.9 billion dollars from the government to help get them out of financial collapse.
The Washington Examiner reports that there has been considerable outrage on Capitol Hill regarding AIG’s handling of the bailout money. These bailouts were unnecessary and our legislators realize that the taxpayers money was being used unwisely.
This is exactly what I predicted would happen, and the behavior of these executives should not be condoned. In fact, AIG should pay this money back to the government immediately. Why should these executives be receiving any raises? After all, they should be focusing on working to pull their agency out of the fiscal problems they are experiencing. Upon initially receiving the bailout money, AIG sent their executives on a ritzy retreat, while the financial industry was on the brink of collapse. AIG did not deserve or need one red cent from the government, and hopefully, our elected officials will regret their decision to vote to approve these bailouts.
Face it, the economy is in a recession, and America is in massive debt. If this money would be returned to the government, then this will help with paying down some of the debt, etc. Now, of course, we know this will not happen, but there should be an in-depth investigation on each company that has received a government bailout to ensure that this money is not being wasted on corporate raises, etc.
