Health Care Tea Party
Today, a group of tea party patriots decided to make a visit to Senator Webb’s Arlington office to share their dissent with the proposed health care plan that is currently being debated in Congress. Lisa Miller spoke at the tea party, and here are the remarks. Shouldn’t “We, the People” have the say in determining our own health care, rather than having a bunch of government bureaucrats decide for us?

July 4th Tea Party on the Horizon
What are you doing July 4th? Attending picnics or watching fireworks? How about standing up for our liberties and standing up against the over-expansion of government, fighting for accountability, and standing up against the wasteful spending by members of Congress? Well, come out and join fellow freedom fighters, as we get prepared to March for Liberty and partake in a July 4th tea party. From 10-2:30 p.m., the tea party will be taking place in Upper Senate Park in Washington, DC featuring some pretty awesome speakers, such as Leslie Carbone, who is the author of Slaying Leviathan, Adam Bitely of NetRightNation, Andrew Langer of the Institute for Liberty, and many more.

Tea Party Roundup
Unfortunately, I was unable to attend the tea parties today due to work commitments. However, I was there with each of my fellow revolutionaries in spirit. However, I felt I would give props to my fellow bloggers who were able to participate and cover the events.
- Tertium Quids Norm Leahy has done an awesome job covering the tea parties, and no doubt, I look forward to reading more of his accounts from the Richmond Tea Party.
- Bearing Drift Georgie Gale provided great coverage of the Virginia Beach tea party with pictures.
- Deo Vindice James Atticus Bowden was one of the speakers at the Newport News Tea Party, and his post features his remarks to the audience today.
- Virginia Virtucon kfd4edu provided a glimpse into the Prince William County Tea Party.
- Black Velvet Bruce Li Greg has some video coverage of the Prince William County event, and he will have more videos from the event online today.
- Rick Sincere has good coverage of the Charlottesville Tea Party.
- Leslie Carbone made both the opening and closing remarks at the Reston Tea Party.
The tea party momentum was not just here in D.C. and Virginia, but all around the country people gathered to tell their leaders in Congress and the President that they are mad as hell about the spending/tax hikes/government waste and they’re not going to take it anymore. In fact, a lame brained CNN reporter had to learn this the hard way in Chicago.
Overall, it looks like today definitely had an impact, but the real impact will take place when the government stops wasting away our taxes on pet projects and earmarks, or for that matter, bailing out every business and bank that comes along.
More on the Northern Virginia Tea Party
In an earlier post, I mentioned that I was going to conduct an interview with the organizer of the Northern Virginia Tea Party, and I followed through with this by interviewing Ron Wilcox, who is organizing the Tea Party, which will be taking place at the Merrifield Post Office on April 15th from 5-7 p.m. I would like to thank Mr. Wilcox for his time, and I hope to see everyone at this event.
CCC: Why did you decide to throw a tea party?
RW: I was fed up with the out of control spending by the current Administration. The Administration is closely coordinating with the media to tamp down any opposition to their policies. Americans feel that NO ONE in Washington is listening to them. The silent responsible majority needs to be given a voice to counter the daily spin in the mainstream media.
I also felt the need for the I decided to organize Northern Virginia Tax Day Tea Party, because I felt that there was a real need to organize Northern Virginia for this and future Tea Party events. The DC event is in the middle of a work day preventing participation by many and others who simply do not like to go into DC for logistical reasons. Organizers say that we are on track to have 1250 tea parties nationwide with the goal of as many as 2009.
CCC: How many people do you anticipate to have at the event?
RW: I anticipate 200 or more people that are fed up with out of control Government, the area I have selected will be seen by every single person going to pay their taxes and could facilitate hundreds more demonstrators stretching down both sides of Lee Highway.
CCC: Have you experienced any issues with arranging a site for the tea party?
RW: We do not require a permit for our area but are working with the traffic authorities for everyone’s safety.
CCC: Will there be any guest speakers at this event? If so, who?
RW: We have invited State Senator [and current Attorney General candidate] Ken Cuccinelli and Congressman Frank Wolf.
CCC: Do you hope that this will spur other activist events in the future?
RW: Do I ever! Silent majority no more. We have a form on our web page so that people can sign up to get involved and be informed of this and other similar upcoming events.
CCC: What other groups have partnered with you to make this event possible?
RW: We are working with a number of civic minded individuals and groups. We are working with the DC Tax Day Tea Party and the Virginia Tax Day Tea Parties to help publicize our events. Also, we are coordinating with the Reston Tax Day Tea Party for maximum impact and attendance. The Reston event is being organized by the American Conservative Party. We will be posting their event on our website shortly when we have worked out a few details. We are also looking to work with the Leadership Institute for a 4th of July Tea party at their annual Conservative Soiree at Bull Run Park.

Northern Virginia Tea Party
With the recent momentum of the April 15th Tea Parties, there are several occurring within Virginia. The most recent updated list can be found here.
There will be one held here in Northern Virginia at the Merrifield Post Office on April 15th from 5-7 p.m. You can find more information at the Northern Virginia Tea Party website. This will not only give you a chance to go to the DC Tea Party, but it will allow you to make a mark on your own community. Additionally, I am trying to line up an interview with the organizers of both the DC Tea Party and Northern Virginia Tea Party that will appear this week.

I will be covering both of these events for both CCC and Virginia News Platoon. Keep a look out on my YouTube Channel for video of these events.
Anti-Tax Rally Mobilizes Grassroots in Fairfax County
Tonight, about 80 anti-tax activists held a rally outside the Fairfax County Government Center to protest the proposed rise in real estate taxes. There was a great air of dissension from many Fairfax County and Northern Virginia residents alike about tax hikes as a means to solve our budget woes. In fact, many of the participants at the event attended the hearing, where Arthur Purves of the Fairfax County Taxpayers Alliance and James Parmelee of Republicans United for Tax Relief both delivered testimony before the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors hearing about how taxes will not help prosper our county’s economic growth. More taxes are not going to help Fairfax County families. In fact, this will cause many families to leave Fairfax County for other jurisdictions with lower taxes.
Additionally, Springfield Supervisor Pat Herrity stopped by, former 11th District Congressional candidate Keith Fimian, and Kerry Bolognese, who is running for the 41st House of Delegates seat against David Marsden.
I got to meet several participants who traveled from Sterling and Manassas to join the rally here in Fairfax. The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors will be addressing this issue soon.
Here are some pictures from the event:

Video will be posted tomorrow morning of the rally. Hopefully, you will be able to attend the Northern Virginia Tea Party on April 15th at the Merrifield Post Office from 5-7 p.m. For more information on this event, please check out the Northern Virginia Tea Party website.

The Tea Party has gone Global
Today, the London Daily Telegraph reports that Britain’s Prime Minister Gordon Brown has been under fire for his recent £1.4 trillion spending proposal. With the release of this, protesters have gathered angrily demanding that Brown stop wasting money on his “so-called stimulus package.” Many Conservative party legislators in Britain have been speaking out against this proposed package. It appears that the Tea Party (albeit, this is not April 15th is starting to gain traction on a global level with many being against wasteful spending measures during troubled economic times.
The Telegraph reports that Britain is getting closer to being placed under IMF control. With the upcoming G20 summit, Brown will have to answer some questions about his proposal. In the meantime, the taxpayers in England are fed up with their Prime Minister’s wasteful spending. The Tea Party is starting to gain global traction, which is always a good thing.
Addendum to this post: A good friend on Twitter informed me that many of these protestors are strong leftists, communists and anarchists, who want the government to spend the money on the people. There are also some conservatives who are also enraged at this action. Here is another example:

The Tea Party Hits Virginia
It is time to demand change from our leaders in Congress. The fact that we can no longer look towards fiscal prosperity makes me sick, but not as much as the government wasting away my tax money on pork barrel projects.
Since they won’t listen, it is TIME for a little revolt. The nationwide Tea Parties got their famous start through CNBC’s Rick Santelli, when he called for all free market advocates to protest out-of-control spending. February 27, 2009 began the start of this movement, and now, there will be tea parties all across the country on April 15th.
Virginia will be no exception, as there are tea parties being held in Virginia Beach, Charlottesville, and Richmond to stand strong against wasteful government spending.
I hope you can come out and join us as we fight to change the tax and spend behavior of our elected officials in Washington.
Time for a Chicago Tea Party (or Tea Parties Nationwide)
Rick Santelli deserves a vote for “Man of the Year.” Any member of the Mainstream Media who has the guts to stand up to Obama and his flawed economic policies wins my support. As I was listening to Mark Levin tonight on the drive home, Levin said that the President’s incompetence and inexperience proves that the country is headed to Hell. It’s time for a tea party!
