"Is this my new reality?"

Yesterday, CNBC hosted a town hall meeting with President Obama. Obama said during the meeting that he sees the middle class as the country’s “bedrock.” While this meeting had an economic focus, there was a surprise question from an Obama supporter, who is not too happy with the President’s recent policy decisions.

This supporter said:

“I’m one of your middle class Americans. And quite frankly, I’m exhausted. Exhausted of defending you, defending your administration, defending the mantle of change that I voted for.”

“My husband and I have joked for years that we thought we were well beyond the hot dogs and beans era of our lives, but, quite frankly, it’s starting to knock on our door and ring true that that might be where we’re headed again, and, quite frankly, Mr. President, I need you to answer this honestly. Is this my new reality?”

Moran Attempts to Explain the Health Care Myths

http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=6279356&server=vimeo.com&show_title=1&show_byline=1&show_portrait=0&color=00ADEF&fullscreen=1

At Tuesday’s townhall hearing in Reston, Rep. Jim Moran had a difficult time explaining the health care myths to many in the audience.  Of course, there were some who were enthusiastic about the proposed health care plan in Congress, but many of Moran’s constituents did not buy the so-called “truths” about the health care bill, H.R. 3200.

After Moran finished talking, it proceeded to a contentious Q & A period, which you can watch in much better quality video on C-SPAN. During this Q & A, there were a few fights that broke out among members of the audience.

We can’t afford this health care plan, especially with our government driving us into a $1.27 Trillion deficit. Perhaps, it’s time that the government address their spending issues prior to the passage of health care reform legislation.

Rep. Moran's Health Care Townhall Meeting

I will be posting more videos and pictures from tonight’s health care townhall meeting with Rep. Jim Moran and former Vermont Governor Howard Dean tomorrow and throughout the week. However, I just wanted to give a brief overview of what I had witnessed at the event. From the time I arrived at 3:30 p.m., I sensed that there was going to be a lot of energy going both for and against the Congressman. I stood with a group of activists who are against the public option and the Congress health care plan. It was contentious at best.

Here are some pictures from the event.

Scenes from a Townhall Meeting: Sen. Ben Cardin

At Senator Ben Cardin’s townhall meeting in Hagerstown, Maryland, he received a great question from Robert Broadus about the health care proposal and the fine that would be levied on those who decide not to accept the coverage. Neil Cavuto of Fox News conducted an interview with Broadus about Cardin’s reaction to his question.

Here’s another scene from the Hagerstown townhall.

Cardin’s response seemed very shaky. Perhaps, Cardin should look out in 2010, because the residents of Maryland are not going to continue buying his defense of health care reform that will cost them thousands of dollars.

Scenes from a Townhall Meeting: Sheila Jackson-Lee

Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee (D-Texas) held a townhall meeting on Monday, and during the meeting, she answered her cell phone while one of her constituents was talking. Check out this video (especially around the 4:45 mark). This goes to show that Jackson-Lee is not genuinely concerned to hear what her constituents have to say. Just remember 2010 is around the corner.

I guess this is the type of reform they are wanting to advocate.

Connolly Finally Plans a Townhall Meeting with a catch

Greg over at Black Velvet Bruce Li reports that Rep. Gerry Connolly has decided to finally announce a health care townhall meeting, but this meeting will not be open to the public, rather it will be open to the residents of a gated community (which is only open to residents) called Heritage Hunt. Why hold this hearing in a gated community? This hearing will not allow anyone to ask questions of their Congressman and receive answers.

Why so late in deciding townhall meetings? Is Connolly afraid to face the anger of his constituency? Whatever the reason might be, Connolly should be held accountable for his stances on health care.

UPDATE: In the meantime, I found out that there might be a possible health care meeting featuring former Vermont Governor Howard Dean in Annandale on August 22nd featuring Connolly. This hearing will no doubt have the SEIU thugs present. Once I find out more details about this event, there will be a post available with the details.

Does Nancy Pelosi condone this type of violence?

I guess so. After all, in her USA Today op-ed, she refers to those who attend Congressional town hall meetings as being “un-American,” because they are voicing their dissent for Congress and Barack Obama’s proposals for socialist health care.

At Rep. Russ Carnahan’s (D-Mo.) town hall hearing, Kenneth Gladney was attacked by SEIU union members for handing out Gadsden flags to meeting participants. Is this the type of violence that Pelosi condones for “un-American” behavior?

Or, how about Rep. Kathy Castor’s (D-Fla.) town hall meeting where union members try to intimidate those who voiced dissent about the health care proposal?

What does Pelosi and the rest of the Democrats have to be afraid of? Are they afraid that the American people are holding them accountable for trying to push through socialist reform?

List of Townhall Meetings

Congress needs to hear from you. All across America, Congressional townhall meetings have been packed with many who are angered by Congress and Barack Obama’s universal health care plan. They have heard quite an earful, and stirred up angry comments from the Democrat leadership in Congress. Listen to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s comments compare those who attend these hearings to voice their dissent as “carrying swastikas.”

Here is a list of townhall meetings here in Virginia, where you can voice your dissent and prove to Pelosi and the Democrats in Congress that this health care bill is a disaster that will take away our liberties to choose health care coverage that is right for our needs.
